Spoofing refers to impersonation. It usually involves impersonating a trusted person online to spread computer viruses or spam.
There are different types of spoofing, but
SPOOFING by e-mail and telephone are the most common current methods of attack
Spoofers send emails to multiple addresses and use official logos and images to present themselves as representatives of banks, administrative authorities (social security, etc.) or the police, among others. These emails contain links to malicious sites or infected attachments.
In the case of telephone spoofing, the recipient’s display shows a number that does not belong to the caller. This impersonation is carried out voluntarily for personal (hoaxes, scams, etc.) or professional (telemarketing) purposes.
How can spoofing be avoided?
Good practices: monitor the operations carried out on your accounts in real time, use an up-to-date antivirus on each device, etc. And of course raise awareness of good digital hygiene among employees and family!
